Who we are

Opportunity, impact, and systemic change

SCORE in Communities is a Virginia-based nonprofit working alongside families, educators, and community stakeholders to make high-quality education the norm, not the exception.

Our story

Built by the community, for the community

SCORE in Communities began with a simple conviction: because every child deserves access to a high-quality education. Too many students still navigate schools without the books, mentors, and family support systems that make achievement possible.

So we build the connective tissue — literacy programs that put books in hands, community conversations that surface hard truths about reading instruction, and workshops that turn parents into confident advocates. Then we bring those threads together in one place through our Multi-Educational Complex.

Mission

We expand opportunities, build collective impact, and drive systemic change so that more students have access to a high-quality education in their communities.

Vision

All students will receive a dynamic, relevant, and unparalleled education that guarantees choices and opportunities today and in the future.

Equity first

Zip code should never determine the quality of a child’s education.

Evidence-based

We build on what research and practitioners prove works.

Family-centered

Parents and caretakers are co-designers, not bystanders.

Collective impact

We convene partners instead of duplicating effort.
